Does the monitor need to be included in the budget?

What games do you plan to play? The reason I ask is that at 1920 x 1080 the A8-3850 may have trouble with newer games (i.e. Skyrim, BF3) even at low settings let alone medium settings. Here is a review Tom's did:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-a8-3850-llano,2...

Are you absolutely set on the A8-3850? Might be able to put together a cpu and discrete graphic card that will fit your budget and perform better.

Im really not set on the amd if i can get better performance. I just chose that for its reviews and not having to buy a graphics card. I mainly play games such as starcraft 2, la noire, and league of legends. on my current laptop only League of legends is playable on lowest setting but thats because it is outdated and can't be upgraded. I do not need the monitor to be in the build. just the tower

When choosing llano for a build a few caveats have to be considered, fm1 is dead so no cpu upgrade path. second is m/b and ram must be high on the list for satisfactory results. spend the money for a good quality board your ram is ok

this is a ok board with hdmi

the ASRock A55M-HVS FM1 says it supports 1600(oc) doesnt that mean i need to overclock something?

Yes. However let me be clear. Video is no problem but there is only so much you can get out of the llano believe me i am still trying. You will be able to play @ medium settings but is that really good enough ? Go to the sbm 500 build thread as it is close enough to your price range.

No is should auto detect but if not, you just need to manually set it in the bios

Yes, it will work with your original board but i have not had good luck with biostar/ecs m/b with llano builds.

I am a big llano fan for what it is but your only upgrade path is faster ram

Cpu wise ? nothing until amd next gen chip comes out it will be am3+ compatible with your m/b. If you really start gaming your going to want a better graphics, A ssd would be a good idea also

My gaming rig is a 955 w/gtx460 so you should see similar results

My Tinkering rig is a
3870k with 8gigs 2100 ddr3
h50 cooler and 6570 in c/f
120 gb ssd cache drive and 500gb seagate hybrid drive
