Best Overall Processor for msi-7173 mobo?

Hello,
Just bought a cheap RM PC to run a music studio so not looking to buy another motherboard or anything, my last system was really good but failed so badly that I needed to buy a whole new system (motherboard went).
All I know about it is:

It has an Motherboard with LGA775 socket currently holding a Pentium 4 HT 3.0Ghz
Has 2GB RAM

Can someone please tell me the absolute fastest processor this can handle (I have a superb cooler system from my old PC)

  1. Need to know what motherboard you have. Download cpu-z it will tell you what motherboard you have. Just run it then under mainboard get the manufacturer and model.

    nvm msi 7173 mobo :pt1cable:

  3. I think the pentium d 960 is the best cpu you can get with that mobo. http://starmicroinc.net/intel-pentium-36ghz-800mhz-lga775-sl9apsl9k7-p-344.html

It might not support the d 960. The best you can get might be d 945. You can try to make sense of this list http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/RC410M-F__L__FI__LA_(MS-7173).html

That is a great help thanks!
A few people told me core 2 duo, so lucky I didn't get one lol

Both 960 and 945 Look pretty good for music production, I know its nothing to what you can get these days but listening to music, converting and recording, is literally all I do. :ange:

    Thankyou :)
