I am lookin gto build a PC that at the time being won't be for major or heavy gaming but later on down the road will be able to somewhat keep up with future triple A titles.

Approximate Purchase Date: Start of November

Budget Range: $750-$800 willing to go over depending on what it is for

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Video playback, movies, school work

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: Possibly the PSU, might not be enough power

Do you need to buy OS: No, linux

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Top websites (i.e. Newegg, Amazon, NCIX, etc.)

Location: Central Virginia, only good in store deals are at the Micro Center hour and a half away

Parts Preferences: CPU - Intel GPU - AMD

Overclocking: Yes, fro sure

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, later on down the road

I just used PC Part Picker for the easiness: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g2ea ***Note that the Mobo is only $100, but also it is not a SLi ready board***

as an owner of the tz77b, note that your power phases on the overclocking potenial on lower end z77 mobos are slightly less than the upper tier ones, so if you're looking for enthusiast overclock, I would pay more for a mobo.(or buy a used mobo like on amazon warehouse, they got pretty good mobos for moderately low prices open box). If you fine with a moderate overclocking and using a single gpu(as 2nd pci-e slot is 4x) your fine then.

yeah i forgot to add that my dad already has a brand new 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black, haha

personally would stick with win7. Win8 is most likely going to cause a few amount of problems with game companies and their programs

yeah, cause if I'm not mistaken, the TZ77B isn't even a crossfire nor Sli capable board. but that really doesnt bother me but here is an alternative, tell me what you think

I'll probably try and get my dad to get it through his company or if my sister can get it through here university

no its crossfireable. just about any modern mobo with 2 pci-e slots of any speed is crossfire(be it 16x/4x, 8x/8x or 16x/16x) Only SLI is really picky that modern mobos require at least 8x/8x and have to go through sli confirmation through nvidia to get it to work.

if you want proof on its crossfire capability then here and just ctrl-f crossfire

if you have enough money to go all the way to a 670/7970 then go for it if you want. both comfortably max all games in 1920x1080p

the thing was that people were saying that the 7950/70 were louder than the 670 but how much can you really tell that difference?

card audibility is dependant on the fan you have on them. 670's tend to be quieter, buts thats in general. It all boils down to which specific model you pick.

I would just get Windows 7. Price should be discounted as Windows 8 is about to come out. And, as reviews state, Windows 8 is better on a touch screen but not so good with PC's so yeah...

yeah either way ill have to deal with the noise because the MSI 7950 that I want will be 320 bucks, while the cheapest 7970/670 is 385, that is just too much up on my price after already having the mobo upgrade, but in whatever benchmark I have seen for any card, may it be a 560 ti 448 or the 660 ti or anything. The MSI always seems to do well on performance and noise level.

could I possibly switch the 660 ti with the MSI 7950 or will there be a performance drop of noticable amount? also I will mainly be playing games along the side of ArmA 2, Day Z Mod included, and ArmA 3 when released. If that helps any

thats what I was thinking too

when it comes to 660ti/7950. the 660ti will get the advantage of running nvidia sonsored games by a few fps, the amd card will have the advantage of high end antialising games(crysis is the biggest example in this category because the 7950 has a bigger bus for anti aliasing and heavy load purposes). the other minor benefits on going 660ti is getting borderlands 2 for free, the advantage of going 7950 is getting sleeping dogs(true crime 3) for free

borderlands all the way, so after this all, i think im going to go with the 3GB 660 ti from gigabyte instead, because of borderlands, and also it is a quieter card, just wish it was MSI cause I have a hard on for MSI
