Hey,

Im thinking of buying a digital camera and have come across a
10megapixel digital camera at a very cheap price, im just wondering
does anybody know about the trupix brand as it doesn't seem to be very
well known on the internet, I want to know is it a very worthwhile buy,
has anybody experience using it? any hints, tips or reviews would be
greatly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely

Colm Wynne

Hi!
Google it!
It's surprising... or is it? ;-) :
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/sh [...] 40111.html
It says: "Does anyone know anything about Trupix?"
Buying a camera or anything for that matter is also paying for confidence in
a company that has a good track record in looking after its clients. One may
have doubts about the likes of Canon or Nikon, but how do you deal with the
illustrious unknowns as Trupix? If one had to wager, where would we put our
money? And how much money are we talking about? What's the savings in term
of the "usuals"? $50? $100?
Sometimes the best deal is what we may at first think as the worst.

Following Marcel's link, I found this link with specs:

http://www.fivefingerdiscount.co.uk/Trupixflip.htm

It has 4x digital zoom but no optical zoom ... effectively no useful
zoom.

Their sample photos are 335 x 249 or 0.08 megapixels. How about some
10 mega pixels samples, since it's a 10 mega pixel camera?

Sensor is 2048 x 1536, or 3.1 mega pixels. Where are the 10 megapixels
coming from?

Okay, I'd want to know more about how they are counting pixels before
buying one of these.

Mark

p.s., FYI this seems to be identical to the camera shown here:

The 10 Mp is only achieved by interpolation.

It is only a 3 Mp camera, and costs all of £10, which seems a fair price if
it actually works. Big IF.

Just the sort of thing "Dell Boy" would stock.

It seems they count them the way everyone else does, then they
multiply by 3.

I noticed that everyone is bad mouthing a company that is relatively an
unknown. All I ever read on this site are complaints about Nikon and Canon
not honouring their warranties. Sounds like a toss up to me as the big name
brands try their best to get from under their warranties. Good luck to you
is all I can say.....

Faz,
It's not that anyone is badmouthing the company, it's simply that the
company and the product are unknown.
What it comes down to is you get what you pay for...

Junk. Stay with name brands such as Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Minolta,
Sony and others.

I thrink you may be misreading the posts about warranties.
First, the bigest concern in this topic is Nikon's warranty policy,
not Canon's. Nikon USA is following their own policy, but a few seem
to think this is immoral. This doesn't mean Nikon is trying to get out
from under their warranty at all. It means that a few really don't
like the policy Nikon USA has.

And that has nothing to do with the current thread/topic at all.

No, I'll badmouth it, because it's marketing practices are obviously
intended to mislead.
10 Megapixels? Breakthrough technology?

And sometimes less.
