Amd dual-core a6-4400m vs amd athlon 64

Hello,
will a amd a6 4400 run a program like SAP 2000? It is a civil engineering structural analysis program. The software's website says it needs a min. of a pentium 4 or amd 64. Just wondering if this will do in a pinch.

I'm not that familiar with that program but I would think you would want a better, stronger CPU for that type of program. My guess is that program will be very CPU intensive and the fact is the APU's have a weak CPU core. The APU has good integrated graphics but the trade off is a weaker CPU. So will the APU work yea but it isn't the right CPU for the job.

The A6 should do just nicely. Just make sure you have lots of ram (8gb+ as indicated on the page) and install the radeon drivers from AMD.com

But if it is a software from 2000, it would work. Can it run on the OS you have?

I believe the software is on version 14. My OS is Windows 8 which I hope doesn't present another problem. I have 4gb of ram but that should be easy to upgrade. I think.
Thanks for all the responses. I am waiting for a response from CIS for my request for a free trial of the software to see if it will work. If not I guess I'll exchange for an upgrade.
