My daughter is going to university. An Ethernet connection is provided but she wants to work wirelessly. Is there a gadget to attach to the Ethernet port that will create a wireless signal for her to connect her iPad and PC laptop?
Thanks

Wireless router. Just make sure there are no IP address conflicts.

I don't see many schools going to wifi anymore unless they use MAC filterting. Too many wifi enabled devices out now that will choke up the infrastructure. Once you add up the iphones, ipads, droids, wifi coffee makers, actual computers, etc..., you will run out of IPs and bandwidth pretty fast.

I would verify the requirements with Dorm management prior to doing anything... I doubt they would wish to have everyone putting their own access points on every ethernet termination point and exposing the network to possible traffic and outside users... I bet they have a policy or can offer a suggestion on how to accomplish whatever you wish.
