Hey, I'm purchasing a CPU for a new build and I'm stuck between
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (AMD FX-6300)
and
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (AMD FX-8150)

I noticed that AMD FX-6300 has a higher benchmark????
Predominately I will be gaming on my PC, but I want to be able to do whatever I want with it.
Currently with the promotion code, the FX-8150 is only $20 more than the FX-6300.
I will be running 16GB 1866 RAM, HD 7870 GHZ ED., ASRock 970 EXTREME3 (MOBO).

What do you guys think? Slap an extra $20 on it? Or is the FX-6300 really better for my situation. (Act like they are the same price basically)

FX-6300 is better for gaming...This is the order of the CPU's for gaming AMD wise IMO...
8350,8320,6300,4300*,8150,8120, and so on...

* the 4300 will be better in games that use fewer cores so in some situations the 8150 and 8120 will be better.

Thanks Derza, Yea, I just thought automatically that 8150 was better in my case, derp :) . Hmmm, that 8320 looks delicious.

If you just want the best you can get in the current motherboard you have, go with this :

From my understanding the 6300 might actually be faster because it has the pile-driver chipset instead of the bulldozer.

The 8320 and 8350 are both piledriver.
