Hi I am looking for a high end compact to carry in my day sack.
I own a dslr but would like also to have something portable with me when I
am out and about.
I would prefer if it could shoot in raw and also had good manual override
capabilities.
Any suggestion please ?

Thanks in advance. !

The Canon G5 is not a compact camera. It's rather large and in no way
could you put it in a pocket.

The 8400 is still quite large. I've had a lot of success and have been
very happy with the Nikon Coolpix 7900 however.

I've jst moved the other way to DSLR. Still very happy with my Kodak
DX-6490 with 10x zoom and (PASM) exposure settings ...

If you cant get this model now, the next one up is the same but bigger
Mpixels...

Canon S70. Or the soon to be released S80, or perhaps the
close-out-sale-priced S60. All compact with many manual features.
