The title pretty much says it all. I mostly play TOR, want might pick up a few other games but not sold on any just yet...

Is the performance gain worth the money, jumping from the 6100 to the 8350? Thanks

Yes it is, probably around 25% general computing performance worth.

+ Much faster IMC
+ Less power
+ Faster single and multithreaded performance

It is a easy recommendation the FX 8350 is a much better CPU.

I wouldnt think so; not many can use 6 core much less 8 of them fully. You would gain some by having the extra BD module and FP unit bringing performance up to be roughly on par with a fast phenom2x4

No!!!

We have run tests FX 8350 vs FX 8150 vs 1100T and in our entire expansive test suite the FX 8350 pulverizes the Zambezi and Thuban into irrelavency, the FX 4300 at times is better than the 1100T and FX 8150. Vishera is a massive step forward and this nonsence about Vishera being on par with Phenom II is bad information, Zambezi was as good or on par with Phenom II which is where the dissappointment came. 7-10 percentile IPC improvement and much lower power on the same die process and a 50% faster IMC sees the FX 8350 outperform the predecessor flagships by around 20% upwards general performance which is quite massive considering it only has a few metal level changes.

EVerything I've ever seen actually shows an 100t trading blows and even sometimes beating an FX 8350 much less a 4300. Hell a P2 980 is faster than the 4300 most of the time. Can you link me to this "exapnsive test suite"?

The 8350 would be the better choice

Performs somewhat faster in all kinds of tasks, Performs slightly better in games and graphics programs and of course you could overclock the 6100 but you can over clock the 8350 as well and get to way higher frequencys at way lower voltages , the performance increase will be substantial yes but you need to pair it with a good video card and you want a good cpu cooler the 8350 gets hot. I'm curious is TOR, the old republic the star wars game if it is you are already past current recommendation spec limits why upgrade when you could just xfire or sli what's your videos card.
