So my DVD drive would be able to open with a dead motherboard? I don't really have another GPU.

I already did all of that except for the GPU, as that is the only one in my house. I did test it another system however and it does work, as well as the fans are running in the new one that won't boot.

Did the bread and butter, still no success. I'm convinced it's the motherboard.

I don't know, I'd like to go Intel but a dual core is unacceptable, and I cannot afford an i5.

My mobo was $84.99, but paired with a compatible AMD CPU it was $44.99. I dislike the FX series because of it's weak cores and shared resources, and being out performed by the Phenoms.
