I have a Radeon HD 6550D in this desktop (http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-SX2370-UR10P-Desktop-Blac...)... I was wondering if I should replace the Graphics card since I want to play games like Assassin's creed, battlefield 3, skyrim, and batman arkham city on medium ish with at least 35 fps. Or will the Radeon HD 6550D play just fine? If not, what graphics card do you guys suggest that will fit my desktop? Thanks in advance
The answer to your question depends on what resolution you game at. If you are gaming on a 1366x768 or less monitor, the graphics chip integrated in the APU will probably do fine. If you need higher rez gaming, you have a couple options. You can take advantage of the Dual Graphics capability of the APU by combining it with one of the listed cards at the AMD site: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/dual-graphi...
You can also go to a stand-alone discrete card. But with the slim line case and probably a weak PSU, you would be limited to low profile cards. They are not much better than the dual graphics solution would be.
If you goolgle you tube for your APU, you will be able to see some videos of folks gaming and the quality of the display. That may help you decide. But look for videos that identify what resolution they are gaming at.
