sorry i picked the parts and they build it . i found a company selling a prebuilt 3d surround rig that used 2 670's sli with the i7 x model and x79 mobo and it claims to be achieving 268fps but this seems very high compared to what i see on other sites

i know it costs less but i need the warranty( got 4 kids at home hence why i want warranty and not to build at home ) and i priced up the parts it only saves me £200 building it myself but that doesnt bother me i need to know if the cpu gpu mobo i have chosen will run games on ultra settings on a 3d surround set up

cheers have had a look at them links the techpowerup actually suggest that on some games 2d surround runs better on 2 670's instead of the 680's in sli (skyrim) and the 3d benchmarks are not looking good it needs top be 60fps or over in 3d or 120fps or over in 2d and non of the cards on the bench's seem to reach this mark so thats telling me its not worth going 3d surround as gfx will not be able to reach ultra settings when playing 3d

also the 3d mark bench's dont cover the 3d surround set up just single monitors in 3d and it struggles to meet the 60fps that is required for smooth game play

its the 3d aspect that is bothering me in all honesty i know that you should half what your getting on 2d surround when using switching to 3d surround as general rule of thumb what i need is someone with a 3d surround system to post there specs and what they are achieving in games

with option 2 i switched to 4 gb gtx690 it puts the cost up by £300 , the benchmarks compared to the 670sli is just a little better but when it comes time to upgrade i can buy a second 690 and sli that cheaper than replacing the 2x 2gb 670 sli

i also found the same monitors £25 cheaper each on amazon so buying them from there is a viable option for saving £75

im still debating if im going to have 3d surround or 2d surround

someone posted this link for me in another forum http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/39605-nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-sli-vs-the-beasttm/?page=3 it shows the fps for 670sli and single 690 and there is not much in it plus the person who posted this link runs a 3d surround set up with 2x 680 2gb i asked him what he can play and at what setting and this is what he posted

The 60fps or 120fps is not quite right. Anything above 30fps will give you decent performance in 2D or 3D. When switching to 3D the graphics card work harder and your fps will decrease, same with running 3 screens rather than one. I am not aware of any GPU whether single or SLI that will give you 60fps or 120fps in 3D with 3 screens for games like Battlefield not even quad sli GTX 690. I usually play in high/ultra on games like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 or Batman Arkham City in 3D or 2D with 3 monitors. Mate I understand your queries and if I was going to spend as much as money as you are planning to I will ask plenty of questions, I think I posted like 100 times before I placed my order and I am more than happy to help you. For benchmarks you could have a look at the links below:
