are you getting this as a prebuilt unit?
September 2, 2012 9:58:50 AM

yes from pc specialist as need the warranty got 4 little monsters at home

sorry i picked the parts and they build it . i found a company selling a prebuilt 3d surround rig that used 2 670's sli with the i7 x model and x79 mobo and it claims to be achieving 268fps but this seems very high compared to what i see on other sites
September 2, 2012 10:07:27 AM

building your own is pretty easy and-
costs less
performs better
looks better
overall better
personal satisfaction :)
September 2, 2012 10:13:35 AM

i know it costs less but i need the warranty( got 4 kids at home hence why i want warranty and not to build at home ) and i priced up the parts it only saves me £200 building it myself but that doesnt bother me i need to know if the cpu gpu mobo i have chosen will run games on ultra settings on a 3d surround set up
September 2, 2012 10:17:38 AM

"can 670 SLi and 3570k can..........................."
yes they can but for 3D,you need more vram.go with 4GB 680s and overclock the hell outta em.
September 2, 2012 10:31:07 AM

ok do you have personal exp of this or do you have links to benchmark test that support what you have said not trying to be funny bout the advice you have given just want to make sure im 100% on what im getting been saving up for this rig for 3 years now as i cant physically work so want to make sure what i get is gonna do what i want it to as wont be able to afford to change things after puchase
September 2, 2012 10:58:08 AM

cheers have had a look at them links the techpowerup actually suggest that on some games 2d surround runs better on 2 670's instead of the 680's in sli (skyrim) and the 3d benchmarks are not looking good it needs top be 60fps or over in 3d or 120fps or over in 2d and non of the cards on the bench's seem to reach this mark so thats telling me its not worth going 3d surround as gfx will not be able to reach ultra settings when playing 3d
September 2, 2012 11:04:21 AM

also the 3d mark bench's dont cover the 3d surround set up just single monitors in 3d and it struggles to meet the 60fps that is required for smooth game play
September 2, 2012 11:35:06 AM

constant 60 FPS is almost impossible.but i am sure that 680/670 SLi will handle a 3 monitor setup well.
September 2, 2012 11:47:22 AM

its the 3d aspect that is bothering me in all honesty i know that you should half what your getting on 2d surround when using switching to 3d surround as general rule of thumb what i need is someone with a 3d surround system to post there specs and what they are achieving in games
September 2, 2012 12:45:59 PM

most of the games don't support 3D and those who support suffer from driver bugs so good luck with 3D but in 2D,670 SLi is a pretty good setup.

thank for all the help you have provided its appreciated it started as upgrading my current rig for 1k then a new build at 1.8k and know its 2.5k lol missis is getting pretty fracked at me lol
September 2, 2012 4:09:57 PM

September 2, 2012 4:42:55 PM

with option 2 i switched to 4 gb gtx690 it puts the cost up by £300 , the benchmarks compared to the 670sli is just a little better but when it comes time to upgrade i can buy a second 690 and sli that cheaper than replacing the 2x 2gb 670 sli

i also found the same monitors £25 cheaper each on amazon so buying them from there is a viable option for saving £75

im still debating if im going to have 3d surround or 2d surround

someone posted this link for me in another forum http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/39605-nvidia-gef... it shows the fps for 670sli and single 690 and there is not much in it plus the person who posted this link runs a 3d surround set up with 2x 680 2gb i asked him what he can play and at what setting and this is what he posted

The 60fps or 120fps is not quite right. Anything above 30fps will give you decent performance in 2D or 3D. When switching to 3D the graphics card work harder and your fps will decrease, same with running 3 screens rather than one. I am not aware of any GPU whether single or SLI that will give you 60fps or 120fps in 3D with 3 screens for games like Battlefield not even quad sli GTX 690. I usually play in high/ultra on games like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 or Batman Arkham City in 3D or 2D with 3 monitors. Mate I understand your queries and if I was going to spend as much as money as you are planning to I will ask plenty of questions, I think I posted like 100 times before I placed my order and I am more than happy to help you. For benchmarks you could have a look at the links below:

i would go with 670 SLi option as 690 SLi suffers from a lot of issues.
