AMD Radeon HD 7850 overclock question.

Hello there,

I've recently purchased a desktop, and have been looking through GPU tweak to overclock my graphics card. It runs at a standard clock speed of 900MHz with a memory clock at 4800MHz. Though the slider wont seem to overclock too high. Wondered if this is possibly because of my CPU?

My specs are:

ASUS M5A97 : motherboard

AMD FX 6300 3.50ghz: CPU

16gb Ram 1333Mhz: Ram

AMD Radeon HD 7850: GPU

Corsair H60 Liquid cooling

Corsair 600W PSU

To overclock the GPU further would I need to overclock my CPU to something along the lines of 3.8Ghz/4.2Ghz?

(Not to savy in this area so all the help you could give would be brilliant)

Thanks for your time :)

More about radeon 7850 overclock question
  1. My AMD Radeon HD 7850 is also equipped with 2GB ram
  2. are you using the asus software for oc, do you see "enable oc range enhancement"
  3. it should be under the tuning tab check that one and also the keep settings on next reboot
  4. Using ASUS GPU Tweak Ver, All i get on the tuning tab is to:

    Adjust GPU Clock
    Memory Clock
    Fan speed

Then apply, cancel and default etc
  5. is the newest version on the site for that card?
    uninstall , download and reinstall

ive read that @ 2.0.8 they have removed it. Asus Tweak is supposed to allow you to get up to 1250+, but i would take baby steps..
