Suggestions for a new modem or wireless router

I have a (D-link DCM-202) modem and a (D-Link Dir-655) wireless router. i have 2 computers connected via lan to the wireless router and i have about 5 other devices on the Wireless connection. My problem is that the internet will stop working then come back on in (2-4) minutes. You can be watching a movie on netflix or just surfing the web on all the lan computers and the wifi devices.... it just goes off and comes back on..??? unplugging(resetting) the modem and router will reset the internet right away(when they finish turning on). so i am trying to figure out if i need new equipment or is there a setting i need to change??? The modem and router are about 2 years old.. I also called the internet provider and they said everything is fine on their end.. so any tips on settings or new modem/routers would be GREAT thanks!
