Is my GPU Dead?

I was playing a game with my PC ..then suddenly the screen goes black and the GPU fan raise to 100% ..so I restarted my PC, resisted the GPU on the slot, clean the pins & the PCI-e socket but no luck.
Now my card is undetected by the OS and the BIOS ..is it dead ?

PC specs:
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 REV 1.3
Kingston Hyper-X Blu 8GB 1600MHz 2x4GB
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
Strike-X 600w PSU 80+ Bronze

yeah it does sound like a dead gpu

power off the pc and pull the plug from the wall and let the mb drain of power and then use the clear the cmos. jumper. then take the card out and reseat it. if the card not see on the bios boot screen or windows. try it in the other video slot if your mb has one. if it does not..try the card in another computer or try an older card in the video slot if you have one. you want to rule out if it the card or the mb or the ps. (cold have lost power on the pci connector.
