Hello,
I am about to build a gaming PC and I was wondering whether my build would be able to run BattleField 3 on Ultra and if so what FPS I should expect to get
My System
Motherboard Asus M5A78L-M USB3 HDMI
Graphics card Radeon HD 6950 2GB
Processor AMD Bulldozer FX-4170 Quad Core 4.2GHz
Power Supply 850 watts
RAM 8GB
Thanks

7850 is a better choice than the 6950.

Try something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Motherboard: Asus P8H77-V ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (£83.99 @ Dabs)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£38.15 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£60.13 @ Ebuyer)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7850 1GB Video Card (£144.94 @ Scan.co.uk)

Total: £578.16
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

I went way over budget but that will be a way better system.

Reverting back to my previous question though, do you think with the system that ive mentioned in my question, would I be able to run BF3 and if so, how well?

Yes - 7850 uses less power and has faster RAM cores.

Regarding your posted PC specs, wouldn't it be better to drop down the PSU to a CX500V2 to save a few £££? Also are the ASRock boards available where OP is located? If so, I think you could save 20-£30.

Not too sure, however, but great parts list regardless, I definitely second it.

You could but you won't be able to add a second video in the future should you decide to. Longevity is a huge key in the parts I pick for my builds.

That's true :) good point about the upgrade path.

The i5-3450 is a far better CPU than the FX-6100. The GPU is fine. And the PSU isn't the greatest - Cooler Master is horrendously unreliable when it comes to power supplies. Go with the Corsair or Seasonic, those are usually the best.

600W for a single, 700W+ for a dual card configuration.

Your pc would run it fine my friend, the only snaggle that would grate on me is that processor, go for a i5 bro you can get a good one for £150 or there abouts...

If you want BF3 on ultra though this computer would run it, if not then on high maybe.

Try the game debate tester

OCZ do great psu's, remember pc power and cooling, well thats OCZ now...

At the very least, get a bronze certified psu, it's all about the efficiency yo!

I got a bronzer and will work at around 80% efficiency. 750 watt ocz

You get one with no efficiency, its says 600 watt, but you'll likely be squeezing about 500 watts of juice.
