Which GPU, PSU, and Case???

I'm picking the components for my new gaming PC and I originally planned for Phantom 410 $100, corsair PSU 650W $90, and a Radeon 6870 $170. I'm starting to think that since this is a budget build, i should downgrade the case/psu and up the Graphics card. please post your opinions as to whether i should stick to the original plan or go for a better GPU (possibly a geforce series?).

Remember i'm looking for BANG for my BUCK.

Thank you!

More about which case
  1. give me a budget range, parts not required, location, are you going to do crossfire/sli, and are you going to overclock
  2. budget $800, i dont need a OS, i live in texas, i may run multiple GPUs in the future, and i've never experimented with overclocking.

These are the parts i had in mind:

    CPU: Phenom II x4 3.4ghz
Graphics Card: radeon 6870 or 6950 (depends if i can rearrange my budget)
    HDD: WD caviar black 1tb
    MOBO: amd socket
PSU: anything with enough power and reliable/durable
Case: Was going with the NZXT phantom but i'm second guessing that
Memory: 4gb ripjaws or 8gb(depends if i have left over cash)

from my research i've seen that amd makes better performance for the price, compared to intel and Nvidia. though i may be wrong :P

    thank you for your input
