CPU UPGRADE

Can i use i7 3770k cpu sandy bridge to replace i5 2300 sandy bridge without Bios upgrade.

I received i7 3770k ivy bridge but i can't use it on my motherboard. I have gateway dx4850-27e with sandy bridge mother. it appears gateway does not have Bios for ivy bridge. I have searched everywhere online. My last option is to replace the motherboard but i can't at the moment. I want to sent back the I7 CPU 3770K ivy bridge and get I7 CPU sandy bridge


any help is appreciated. I'm programmer and run lots of vmware. I'm a novice when it comes to hardware

Mostly it will not work.you can contact gateway to ask them.

you may be able to flash the bios in order to update its compatibility. I would recommend getting a fresh cpu cooler or cleaning off the old thermal paste with isopropyl alcohol and applying new thermal paste. that way it's not going to have cpu heat problems.

No will not need.but doesnot know that it supports k series cpu
