Is my old old system good enough to be an HTPC system? I though about converting the old system to an HTPC and maybe building a new one for myself instead of a new HTPC. Here is what I got:

MOBO: Asus P5Q-PRO
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU - Q6600 @ 2.4GHZ
Ram: 4GB
HDD: 500GB WD 7200 RPM
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4850 - 512MD Ram
DVD: LG Blu-Ray Player

The only thing I will need to change is get a new ATX case for HTPC and put all this stuff in there. Then maybe build myself a better i-core5 system or something.

Any advice? for the system or the new ATX case to be used as HTPC?

Thanks

Heck, it is more than enough for a HTPC. It can make a decent gaming system too.

Agreed. Way more than is necessary for an HTPC. For comparison, look at the specs of my HTPC in my signature.

Any suggestion for a decent looking ATX HTPC case?

That's going to depend on your budget. I've been very happy with my NMediaPC HTPC case (200BA) and would recommend any of the newer cases (like the 6000b). If you have a bit more money to spend, then I'd be looking at the Silverstone HTPC cases.

Personally, I've never cared for the Apevia HTPC cases, but that more aesthetics that anything else.
