I just bought an extra 256 megs o ram putting me up to 512. Now i don;t know too much about the virtual memory system that winME uses and i am wondering wether or not it would be advantageous or useless to disable it... i fiddled with it, turned it off and when i went to the system information tool in windows, it told me it didn't have enough memory to collect any data when in fact there was 384 megs of physical memory left unsed accoring to the same tool after i re-enabled it.

my instinct it to leave it on since i have never had any problems with it but i am curious to find out whether i am missing out on somthing...

It is generally best to leave virtual memory turned on. This allows the operating system to page out unused or infrequently used application memory to free up system memory for use in the buffering of files and other objects. Such buffering greatly enhances system performance.
