Splendid
I love my 2400 cause it thinks it's a 2700, but guys with a 2500 will say the same thing. If you spend as much as you can afford without cutting back on your video card you will be happy.
Some programs do prefer speed over cache. If you want a less generic answer, let us know what mobo and what software

They are "better" or "worse" than eachother in different areas. But I would go with the 2500+ because I like things that can be diveded with 5  !

Who taught your maths during your primary school? Kill him/her because he/she never told you 2400 can also be divided by 5.

It is morally wrong to allow suckers to keep their money

I'd prefer the 2500+ because now it's 89 bucks and it has the extra 256K L2 Cache plus a little more headroom because the die is a little larger making the CPU a little cooler on average. I overclocked my dad's 2100+ T-Bred "B" to 2.3GHz and it reads it as a 2700+ in BIOS, Windows XP, CPU-Z, and WCPUID! Heh, I was pretty happy that I could do that on my first overclock. I had to lower the Memory's aggressive timings in order to get there however.

DFI i815EP, Intel Pentium III (Tualatin) 1.42GHz, ATI Radeon 9100, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum, Samsung 512MB SDR SDRAM, Maxtor 60GB 7200RPM 2MB Cache
