Hello,

I do a lot of painting/photo editing in Photoshop, 3d modeling in Zbrush, Rhino3d and Maya-heavy multitasking. Not too much rendering but I plan to start more jobs that require it and some light 2d/3d animation work. My budget is around $250 until work picks up a bit.
I only game when a new grand theft auto/command and conquer comes out on PC until I beat it and then there's no gaming until the next release. I do occasionally watch bluray movies for design ideas.

Here is what I have access to locally(ordering will take too long(only downtime from job will be this coming Monday and import cost are high).
Price will be in {}The parts with an * are what I'm thinking will be my purchase:
Sempron 145 2.8 GHz AM3{39.47}
AMD LlaNo A4 3300{59}, A4 3400{64}, A6 3500{76},
A6-3670 Quad-core 2.7GHz*{99},
A8 3850{116}, A8-3870{129}

mobo:
EMAXX EMX-MCP61d3-ICAFE{44},
Gigabyte GA-A55M-DS2*{57},
EMAXX EMX-A55GM-ICAFE{57},
EMAXX EMX-A55USB3-ICAFE{60}

ram:
Kingston kvr1333d3s8n9/2g{13},
Kingston kvr1333d3n9/4gb* (x2){22},
Corsair vs2gb1333d3g 2gb{13},
Kingston kvr1333d3s9/4gb{24}

gpu:
Asus end210 silent 1gb ddr3 64bit{31},
Palit g4210 1gb 64bit ddr3{28},
Palit gf220 1 gb sddr3 128bit{44},
Galaxy gt430 1 gb 128 bit*{70},
Powercolor ax4850 1gb gddr5 dvi hdmi pci{74},
Powercolor ax5450 pcie 1gb ddr3 64bit{31},
Powercolor ax5570 1gb 128bit{49},
Powercolor ax7750 1gb 128bit{112},
Sapphire hd5450 1gb ddr3 64bit{33},
Sapphire hd6670 1g gddr5 128bit*{88},
Galaxy agp fx5500 256mb 128bit{36},
Palit 8400gs 256mb 64bit ddr2 64bit ddr2 pcie{33}

My processor pick is the cheapest quad core on the list with processor speeds faster than my current 2.5ghz dual core.
I've just learned what an APU is and found that for this particular apu, A6, I should probably go for the Sapphire HD6670 to take care of the 'dual gpu'. I've always heard negative things about radeon cards for 3d so am kind of shy about leaving nvidia so I'm sort of leaning to the gt430. I can't find much info about other users using the 'dual graphics' thing so I'm not sure if the extra $20 to get the a6670 would even be necessary.
I have no immediate need to run 2 monitors simultaneously.

I still don't quite grasp all the technologies that go into building a good system so I'd like your input to help guide my purchase. I would like to cut the cost a little bit but still have a solid computer to last for the next 1-2 years minimum.

Thank you.

Those are pretty outdated parts for what you want to do with the PC. Seriously consider at least a core i5 purchase, even a sold in store prebuilt one.
Anyways,I'll pick out the best you can get.
A8 3850 which is best value of the bunch.Mind you,an i3 blows it out the water.
Gigabyte A55M
2 of the single stick Kingston 4gb. You'll need it.
Powercolor 7750. Uses least power,for most performance. This will enable you save on the power supply a gt430 would demand,for less performance than a 7750.

Thank you for your input.

The i5 looks nice but it's a bit beyond my budget this time around. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I noticed the 7750 is not on amd's A8 list of recommended cards to use the 'dual graphics' option.
Does this mean it will ignore the gpu on this apu?
Would this play in to your choice at all with disregarding Nvidia cards?
