So basically I have 8GB RAM, two sticks of 4, I got the first one in with a bit of a struggle...
But I managed to get it in, but I could not seem to get the second one in despite my huge efforts, why?
The new RAM is 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 XMS3, PC3-10600 (1333), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.50V
And my current motherboard is Gigabyte P41T-D3P

ok this may seem like a stupid question but did you release the retention clips on the side of the ram slots?

Also if the heatsinks are obstructing the use different slots(assuming your mobo has 4 ram slots)

Yes of course I did, I got the first one in didn't I?
But since I wasn't able to get the second one in, I just gave up, took them both out and then put in my old RAM.

And my motherboard has two RAM slots and are both blue.

Make sure the RAM is aligned correctly in the slot. The RAM will have a notch at the bottom which has to line up with the notch in the slot. Once its aligned correctly use your thumb to put some pressure on the sides and push it in. It does take some force.

That's the problem, no matter how hard I pushed the second RAM stick would just not click into place.

Well, you have inspected the stick side by side with one of the old sticks to make sure the stick is not actually physically defective? I have never heard of this, but I guess its possible.

That is odd if its aligned and still not clicking into place. If its not physically defective you should show the mobo and ram to a technician, if you bought it from a shop and not online maybe they could help?

Check if the retention clips on either end of the slot are working and there's nothing interfering with them.
