My buddy bought an HD 5870 off of Ebay to crossfire with his existing system.
It was a new/other listing, as it was pulled from a Dell Alienware. I guess it's just a reference model.
Anyway, he got it in today and the mount is bent. The bracket that you use to mount to the case. It isn't bent bad, and the screw areas are intact and he says he can still mount it. Otherwise, the card looks great.
He has reason to believe it happened during shipping, as there is a hole in the packaging.
He is worried that whatever damaged the mount could have caused some kind of unseen damage in the card. I told him that it's a Dell built card, and he is better off keeping it (it cost him $200, and it is new) because it's built well. I told him that chances are, if something is going to go wrong from blunt damage, it would more likely than not go wrong within the first month. I am well aware that's not always the case, but I'm not interested in the "what ifs", I just want to know what you think he should do.
