Phenom 965 w/ 4/8 pin connector

Hello, I am going to buy a Phenom II x4 965 and I will keep it at stock clocks but the problem is I am on a budget and cant afford an expensive mobo. The problem is the motherboards I can afford have 4 pin connectors, is it a problem? I heard it was not a problem since the motherboard supports the CPU but I want to be sure. Thank you in advance.

It is not a problem at all cheaper bords have a 4 pin and the more expensive ones with more Phases/features have the 8 pin it just supplies more power for better power regulation mostly when overclocking. I have overclocked on both with no issue at all. Good Luck.

what is the motherboard name and model also did you check on board maker for this cpu on the support list

For a moment I was about to give up buying the Phenom but then he posted again that the 4 pin wasn't the problem and it was because Phenom uses AM3+ socket.. lmao
