I just built a system:

Asus P4C800
Corsair XMS 512mb DDR PC3200LL (2-2-2-6-T1)
P4 2.4 533 Northwood

I bought the better ram and mobo bc I felt it offered a better upgrade path. My questions now stem along the lines of have I thrown my system into an asynchronous mode? I was looking for good pc2700 performance basically from the ram/cpu combination.

I'm also unsure what mhz to set ram at.. 266 or 333.

I'm not new to building computers, but I have also never really tried to tweak my ram settings in bios. Any thoughts/advice would be helpful.

Thanks

If you are using a 2.4Ghz, 533Mhz FSB P4 on a Canterwood mobo, you´ll be clocking your memory at 266, not 333 (that´s the synchronous setup)... it´s a pity you haven´t waited for the 2.4C, with 800Mhz FSB though... But you can always upgrade later, of course. That motherboard is excellent!!!

Oh I just had crash problems and incompatibilities with P4S8X, P4G8X and A7N8X. ;) Strangely enough I seem to be the only one with so many bad experiences with ASUS lately...ranging back 6 months or so. I believe ASUS is throwing out boards before they're finished...no wonder they're always the first out with new boards :p But again, is it just me?
