I am building a computer for a buddy of mine. He has $$1096.21 for a computer build :D . I made a list of components and was wondering if you guys could critique it to see if it works together and is compatible, or perhaps a better price/value for the parts. Also this is mainly a gaming computer.

Case - $55.00 Antec Three Hundred Black
Power Supply - $130.00 Corsair CMPSU-750TX
Motherboard - $85.00 AsRock Z75 Pro3 LGA 1155
Processor - $220.00 Intel Core i5-2500k 37 Turbo
Ram - $105.00 G. Skill Ripjaws X Series (16 GB) 2 x 8 GB
Video Card - $120.00 GTX 550 Ti
CD/DVD Drive - $20

Monitor - $180.00
Mouse - $75.00
Keyboard - $70.00

Shipping $1,160 - With warranties

He will have to buy Windows 7 with this. But my friend can save up a little bit more money if necessary. Thanks guys!

Overspending a LOT on that PSU. A 500w would be enough and that goes for $50-$60. Use that money to get a 7850 for $200. And a better mobo like the Pro4 Z77. Then, you're good to go!

First off - never pay money for store warranties - you're basically throwing money away. Manufacturers have their own warranties for their products and they're legally contracted to honor them. The store warranties usually don't do anything and you're paying money for nothing.

On that budget I'd do things way differently - get a cheap keyboard and mouse - no need to spend $140 on peripherals. And for games that kind of RAM will also be useless. You're paying way too much on things you don't need and not enough where it counts.

Try something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($34.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($142.86 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($41.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($88.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($317.86 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($24.97 @ Newegg)

A bit more but you get a far better system.

Wow thank you so much for that reply. That seems like a great build. Now just for my own peace of mind all those parts will fit together right? I have read stories about people buying stuff then they don't fit in the Tower/Motherboard. And they are all compatible together also correct?

I wouldn't post a build like this if it wasn't compatible.

That choice of PSU will hinder efforts to add a second video card later on. I'd rather get the Extreme 4 over the Pro 4, and the included Agility 3 isn't really a good deal as it's not a good drive.
