Ironforge from Ahenvale?

I am in Ashenvale (Astranaar) and want to know quickest way back to
Ironforge (or anywhere else with bank/auction house). Do I have do go back
to Darkshore and take boat/then 'big bird'?

The standard method is to set your hearthstone to the inn just outside the
AH in IF.

Alternatively, create an alt dwarf and set them to be permamently at AH to
use as a receiver off goods

Depends if you have been there before. Its likely you have the flight path
to Darkshore so get there and take the boat to Menethil Harbor, then if its
your first time you will have to walk, take the path out of Menethil and
keep walking alot and head southwards. Of course if you have been to IF
before then you can take the Gryphon. In short theres no quick way back to
IF from Astranaar, unless your a mage and have the teleport spells.

Theres a bank in Darnassus, so stock your items you want to sell and
occasionly make a trip to the AH. At lower levels it isn't so viable to use
a mule as posting all the items adds up and you need to make as much money
as possible.

First of all you go to Darkshore. Now, the Alliance AH is in Ironforge
while the closest bank is in Darnassus. To get to Darnassus, just take
the right boat from the DS harbour or the griffon if you have the flight
path, and then the portal from the rutheran village. To get to IF you
take the left boat to Menethil Harbour, and then griffon (if you have
it) or walk south to Ironforge.

It might actually be faster to run down to ratchet if all you need is a
bank.

Of course, everyone has their own preference, but I like to have my HS
in Menethil Harbor. I find that you have a lot of options from MH
including boats to two places in Kalimdor. I have an auction mule who
does all my buying and selling in IF. I hate the lag in IF and try to
avoid it as much as possible. The only time I will go to IF is when I
need to visit the bank and if possible I will do my banking in SW or
Darn.

While a teleport might seem a quick thing, it will leave you stranded in IF
and you'll need to make the journey again
if you hearth back.

Best solution, and it works for all lvls ( brought my hunter at lvl 8 and
just for fun a lvl 1 rogue to IF )

Darnassus > Auberdine
Auberdine > Menethil by boat. Pick up Flight Path in Menethil.
Walk through wetlands towards Loch Modan. Dangerous journey but you can make
it.
In loch modan walk to thelsamar and pick up the flight path.
Walk back again towards Dun Morogh all the way to IF.

This way you have all connections you need between IF and Darnassus and a
nice quest hub in Loch Modan.

Essentially all you need is the Flightpath in IF and the one in Menethil for
traveling between Ironforge and Darnassus.

I only added Thelsamar for fun
And because it would be fun to see ppl ask what a lvl 2 night elf was doing
in IF. Well started as lvl 1 but ended up lvl 2
by the time I got to IF because of discovering so many places

Yep, that's looking a good bet for a central location. For the Horde,
we've found that Thunderbluff is best, mainly because nearly everything
you need is very close to the inn.. bank, mailbox, stable master,
trainers, flight point, etc etc. It's a short and cheap flight to the
Org AH as well.
