Ive recently built this as a main rig. Gaming in the future.

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

MOBO: (cheap and free with the processor) (mine is also revision 5.0)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

HDD:
plain old 160GB 7200RPM 1.5Gb/s

GPU: (cpu-z says GDDR5 but box says GDDR3)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

PSU:
Old 550w from previous build

CASE:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

How terrible is this setup? I plan to get a good graphics card in a month or so and would appreciate some ideas. ($150 tops) How bad will this MOBO hold my system back? What upgrades would you guys do next?

I plan to get a second HDD soon (320GB?).

What brand is the PSU? That might be what I would upgrade next even before you upgrade the GPU, depending on the brand.

Otherwise, I would definitely upgrade the GPU, maybe something like this:
XFX HD-687A-ZHFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - $180 w/$30 rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

or any HD 6850 or HD7770 if you don't want to deal with a rebate to get under your $150 budget.

That mobo seems to be a pretty good little mobo. It will handle any of the FX processors (and hopefully Piledriver as well). It is not going to hold you back.

The PSU is an "Arrow" and it is 550w. It was from a Pentium 4 machine. It does have 2 SATA power connectors on it which I am using for my HDD and DVD-R drive.

For around $50 or less, what would you recommend?

$43.95 after MIR, definitely worth it IMO.

+1 to maui67's idea on upgrading the GPU (and PSU if necessary to up the PSU). Also +1 to his recommendations of a 6850/7770/6870.
