USB 3.0 expansion card power

I'm looking to add a USB 3.0 card to my mother board, but I don't have any spare power in the case. Dumb question, but if I get a powered external hub, is this doing the same thing as the internal power? Thoughts?

Hello... can you get a internal power cable spliter, adaptor, Y-cable?... pretty common cheap part.
