Might go into Sound and make sure the headphone output volume is all the way up (it's different than the main volume).

Hi :)

If you use VLC as your media player , you can double the volume....

All the best Brett :)

I do not use VLC Media Player.

All the volume is up.

What else can I do?

You need an amplifier.

Would a sound card help matters? Like an external one?

Yes, it would help too, but to a lesser degree.
