Can someone tell me what's the difference between an Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80619i73820 and an Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770. Which one would be worth it for gaming on high setting.

From a performance point of view, the i7-3820 might be a bit better because of the higher multiplier.
I you will be using sli GTX680 cards or better, then the socket 2011 motherboards can handle that a bit better, but they are more expensive.

To run high settings, you need strong graphics card/s more than cpu.
Really, the i5-3570K is a superior and cheaper cpu chip for the gamer when given a conservative OC in the 4.3 range.
Few games can make good use of the hyperthreads that the i7 cpu's offer.

thx so would i5-3570k be worth it than the i7-3820. i am gonna be playing games like maplestory, leauge of legend, world of warcraft and minecraft, and maybe some others but those are my main games.

I am not experienced with those games. But, in general, a $200 cpu budget can not be spent better than on a 3570K with a mild OC.

For gaming it is very hard to be beat the Intel® Core™ i5-3570K. The reason why is that so few applications will take advantage of more than 4 threads and even fewer will take advantage the higher memory bandwidth of the Intel Core i7-3820. So for gaming go with the Intel Core i5-3570K a nice cooler and get a nice OC out of it.

Yeah lik above said,If your JUST GAMING then the 3570k...But if you plan on rendering videos of say those games and recording those games then the 3820 is an AMAZING cpu...i grabbed it as an upgrade from my fx 6100 and WOW the performance increase is crazy
