What has happened to my usb stick

Hello,
I seem to have killed my USB stick! Everything was working fine until yesterday when I connected the tv to my laptop to watch a movie. I had left the USB stick in and it was only after watching the movie that I realised that I couldn't find the stick. I have read on other websitese about changing the name of the USB stick, however, I can't do this as the USB stick doesn't even show up on the list.
Have I frazzled my USB stick? It has quite a bit of work on it and would really appreciate any help to get it fixed.

Do you have any other PC to try to connect it to?
Usually, when removing it it's a good idea to use the "safely remove hardware" option from the taskbar but this is an odd situation, maybe an IRQ struggle of sorts.

Try removing the stick, rebooting, and then once you're at desktop plug it into a different USB port than it was in before and see if it comes up....
