Is this a good build?

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this sort of thing so I asked a buddy to put something together for me and he came up with this.

https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/TbAbPTH6NQbj3XvkiyEtlg,,

I just want to make sure it's a good build/everything works together, etc before I commit to buying as it's a little over my intended budget (£400).

The purpose of the machine is to play newer games smoothly at medium settings.

I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS.

That PSU will be a bit underpowered for a 7850. And I'd pay a bit more on the case and RAM, try something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor (£89.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (£72.99 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£41.90 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£64.80 @ Novatech)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card (£154.79 @ Scan.co.uk)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case (£37.72 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair 600W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply (£52.92 @ Ebuyer)

Wouldn't disagree much, with anything there, should be pretty good for better than just medium settings, on most things at up 1920x1080 resolution. The only thing I'm not too sure on is case. May be unjust, as I don't know it personally, but, at price, I doubt it's of particularly high quality.

Nice build. Sounds though as if OP already pushing budget. Certainly better case would be good. More PSU power would be good, if budget allows, but 430W is "adequate" (just about)

Adequate yes but 430w will be very underpowered as most GPU manufacturers recommend minimum 500W for a 7850.

Yea I'm already stretching my budget as is so I can't really afford that build. I'm happy to upgrade a year or so down the line when I have the funds. Cheers for the help though.

Would something like this be better? Again I'm pretty clueless so any help is appreciated!

Definitely better but I'd stay away from Cooler Master PSUs - go with something from Seasonic, Corsair, or XFX. Also don't cheap out on the RAM if you can help it.

No to the Crappermaster PSU. The GX450 is one of their very few to get good reviews, and the GX650 was summarized by HardOCP as "a polished turd in a box;" don't know where the GX500 would sit, but I wouldn't trust it. Others of their PSUs in that wattage range are almost all overrated near-junk, some claiming protection circuits that are missing, or exceeding ATX spec for ripple when loaded.

Way better. You could get an H77 or H67 for not that much more and that will give you more head room for future expansion.

Decided to up my budget a bit.

How's that looking now? I don't really want to go over £500 if I can help it.

Stick with the arianet case from your initial build. It has better cable management, both
front intake and rear exhaust fans preinstalled, a cpu cut out to make installing and
removing large coolers easier, and plenty of space for large video cards.

Get this psu: https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies+-+PSUs/Non-Modular+650W+or+less/430W+Corsair+Builder+Series+430CX+V2+80PLUS+Power+Supply+?productId=42487

28A on the +12v rail(336w) and jonnyguru recommended(jonnyguru is pals with hardware-
secrets, and hardwaresecrets knows their stuff when it comes to actually reviewing PSUs).

Get this ram: https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory+-+RAM/DDR3/Dual+Channel+-+%281333MHz%29/Corsair+4GB+DDR3+1333+Mhz+CAS+9+Dual+Channel+Desktop+Memory+?productId=51714

corsair ram has got to be better than that brand I've never heard of before. If you have
any issues with it, Corsair will likely give you better customer support.

Edit: guess I'm a tad late. the cx500 might be ok, but maybe more than you need.

I'd still keep that arianet case from your initial build, though.
