Maybe there is something wrong with the wire? it may be defective.
  2. Each DVI-I port can only drive a single display regardless of whether that display draws from the DVI-A or single/dual link DVI-D. It is not possible to hook multiple displays up to the same DVI port.

You will need to use separate DVI-D and VGA cables
  3. This will not work. What you need is a digital to analog converter. Check kvmswitchtech dot com as they offer DVI-D to VGA and VGA to DVI-D converters.
  4. Use DVI-D to DVI-D cable for one monitor, and VGA to VGA cable for another monitor. You won't get your computer to output to two monitors from single DVI-D port.
  5. Pinnhedd your a idiot it is entirely possible and this problem has been resolved

Producing both a digital and analog signal over a DVI-I port is not part of the DVI specification. The specification is for either-or, not both. Some cards may do it but many will not
