Solid HDD light, no POST, works after next try?

Having a really weird problem with my newly built comp. If I start the computer without using it in a while (6 or more hours about), the power and HDD activity LED will come on(both stay SOLID the whole time), there is no video, lights don't come on for keyboard and mouse(no usb power). I will then manually shut it down by holding the power button, then try booting again. The second time it always boots up fine. Why would it work on the first try if I used the computer recently, but if I have it off for a while it will not POST and have a solid HDD indicator? What is going on?
