Medium shadows?

I want to know if its bad that when i play Just cause 2, i sometimes get like 50ish fps (sometimes down to 40 rarely) When im in like snowy towns with shadows on high. But i get 60 (sometimes down to 55) when i turn it to medium. Should i be able to do shadows on high with this? AMD Radeon HD 6990m. 2.5ghz processor 3.4 turbo i7 2860 QM? Thanks.

If you care more about performance than graphics, go for a lower setting.

If you care more about graphics than performance, go for a higher setting.

You can do shadows on high, but you will take the performance hit you described. If you really want 60FPS solid, drop the shadows down to medium. The 6990m is about equivalent to a midrange desktop video card, do not expect to be able to max out every game with it.
