I hit some high temps. But only once in a while.

Last response: in CPUs

So recently I upgraded my PC. My temps when I put my stock heatsink in were around 70c at idle. After getting a new heatsink my temps are fine. Then I started rendering videos. My heatsink right now at idle is around 35-45c but when I render the temp get to the upper 80s and 90s. Is this alright to do just for a hour a day? Is there anyway I can have sony vegas not use so much from my CPU so the temps dont go so high? Why are my temps spiking up so high? Thanks for your help.

More about : hit high temps

I bought a new heatsink, Its a simple 20$ one. But should be fine for just a regular non-overclocked CPU. I think I might have found the problem. On another forum I found out this guys motherboard overclocked his motherboard automatically. Just so happens he has the same CPU and motherboard as me. So after im done rendering im going to take a look into that.

Well after giving my PC a quick opening up, Cleaning out some dust, Taking out my heatsink and reinstalling it. So far about 4 minutes into rendering were staying at a even 45-55c Not bad. Thanks you guys for your solutions. I guess I just needed to open up the case for a bit and tweek some things.
