  1. That is odd. Although I did have a similar problem once. My DVD refused to be recognized as the boot device when plugged into the on-chip SATA 3 header. I had to enable the 3rd party SATA 3 ports and use one of them for my DVD in order for it to be recognized as a boot device. (The board had no SATA 2, or else I would have used that). Could your issue be something similar?
  2. thanks for the reply, but I already solved the problem with my PC with the help of command prompt. this is what I did. I Run Command Prompt as an Administrator. Type cmd in Windows 8 Metro UI and press cltr+shift+enter
    Type following and say enter
    reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
    Reboot the system
  3. Is this another Windows 8 "improvement"?
  4. i dislike windows 8, id stick with 7 as its stable.
  5. I never was able to stomach Win8 (RC) long enough to find out if it was stable.
  6. windows 7 is good, though windows 8 is fast compared to the other OS that you'll love to use it.
  7. meh. its still in its infancy. i always wait a year or so before changing os. somethimes i just dont.

If I had a touch screen or a tablet... maybe. But to each his own. I'm happy you have your issue resolved and are enjoying the O/S.
