I'm just curious: does *anybody* find predictive text useful?
I'm not aware of anyone in my circle who uses it -- anybody I've spoken
to about it has found it just plain annoying rather than even
remotely helpful.

Thanks Harvey.
This has been driving me nuts for days.

That's kind of you -- but it was Chris Mitchell who gave the solution -
- I just quoted it!
(I take thanks wherever I can get 'em though -- I'm not proud...)
Cheers; glad it's turned off, anyway,
Harvey

Oops. You're Chris Mitchell...it was Jack Sparrow what gave the info.
(I really gotta get new glasses. Either that or clean these ones.)

Couldn't text without it! Well, almost, anyway.
Trouble is if you can't spell (like me) predictive text can be a pain at
times.

Thanks Cpt Jack.
Apologies for crediting Harvey earlier, like Harvey I probably need new
glasses.
Interesting to note that O2 didn't know the answer!

Although you can turn the dictionary off, Pred text is worth wrestling with.
I hated it at first, till I learned what you don't do.
The trick is not to look at the screen as you are typing, only after each
word. So to write H-E-L-L-O you press the key once that has h, then e, then
l etc. You don't have to rotate letters with Pred text as it guesses the
words, but as it does so the screen displays the closest, word in memory, so
that is why you don't look at it as until the word is spelt it can look
totally wrong.
If after completion, the word is guessed wrong you can go into [options] and
look at the [matches] and select one of those.
If the word is not there or want to turn it off in order to type a word
manually mid pred text entry, use the # key to rotate the SMS pred symbols
on the top left between various SMS modes including capitals and lower
letters, pred text caps and lower etc.
Once you get the hang of it, it is quite good. Remember to have English
dictionary selected. No good spelling in English if you are using Spanish
language for example.

Thanks but I'd rather not use it.
