Wrong, it depends on the motherboard, Hp may make the model of the laptop, and it may be fitted with say for an example an AMD Cpu AMD A8-4500M processor.
That is what you have as the Cpu in the laptop model you bought.
Its the top of the Tear for the Cpu model type in the brand.
If it was say a lower Rated Cpu, one that the other laptops you can buy in the range.
Then a Cpu upgrade could be done since all the boards of the laptops are the same.
So by rule of thumb it would work, or would require a bios update firmware for the bios of the motherboard to see it.
But you have the top of the line cpu currently in the laptop model list so the answer is no for the moment.
