I recently finished a gaming build and so far I've been very impressed with it. It currently has a HD7970 and I'm looking to take it a step further and add another card. Since there's now the 7970GHz I'm wondering whether I would get better performance by adding an identical card MSI HD7970 OC or a different card which is supposedly better, 7970GHz Edition.

Get an identical card. If you get a card that has better specs than the lower card, the higher card will always match the lower card.

Although fantastik250 is technically correct you can easily OC any card of your liking and sync them to run on identical frequencies.

the faster card will forcibly downclock itself to the lower card so getting a ghz would be a waste. to push performance, the same relative speed as the original card then manually overclock it. though for the second card, pick the one with the best cooling solution
