Upgrading pc, is this a good set?

As the title says, I'm upgrading my pc's CPU and also mobo cause my current one is an AMD one. I'd like to know if I'm buying the correct things and if I'm getting the most for this money.

I'd like to have this mobo cause it includes ram too, but I'm open to all suggestions. I'm only using it for gaming and general web surfing.

You don't need to purchase the separate thermal paste; the heatsink comes with it. I've never seen more than a 3 degree difference in thermal paste temps. I would use the $10 for something else.

Ah okay, what about the other stuff, do they look fine?
I already did some research on it, but I'm looking for a second opinion before I order the stuff.

Wow... that's a great deal for the motherboard + ram, you should totally get it, the only think i don't like its the CPU cooler, i suggest you something like a Hyper 212 EVO or a HAVIK 120

Fan position doesn't matter a lot.... what matter most is the heatskin itself, the 212 EVO or the HAVIK 120 (specially the HAVIK) are quieter than the cooler you linked and perform equal (the HAVIK performs better than both)

I just looked up the dimensions for the coolers and it looks like many won't fit in my current case, and perhaps the new mobo won't either.

Are the dimensions of the case. 
The mobo has a 12" height and there's just under 13" of room left in my case including my PSU.

So would I also need a new case as well or would I be okay with this as long as I get a decent CPU cooler that fits?

I got a follow up. I just finished installing everything, and as far I know I did it correctly. But when I start it up it says it can't startup and it goes into repair mode but it just keeps going on forever. I did done googling and found that this happens sometimes when u install a new CPU or mobo, and that I'd have to do a clean installation. Now I tried doing that by rebooting with the disc in the pc but it doesn't pick it up. Gives me option to repAir and to start normally which does nothing but restart the pc.
How can I run the disc if it keeps doing that now? :/
