I have come to a stand still whether I should get an i7 3770k with a radeon hd 7950 or an i5 3570k with a GTX 680. I will not be able to afford a 3770k with a GTX 680. This my rig will be for intensive gaming and internet multi-tasking. I do not do any 3D modeling or video rendering. Thankyou in advance.

Solution
GTX 670 + 3570K

a 3770K can perform under a 3570K if the game doesn't like hyper threading enabled. With it disabled it gets equal fps as the 3570K.

For gaming a 3770K is $100 more than what you need from the CPU since the 3570K = 3770K minus HT.

Save yourself $200 get the 3570K and 670 and get yourself a nice set of speakers or a new monitor or a new mechanical keyboard with the money you saved :)

People think you need an i7 just to "multitask" those same people think its better pay $100 extra for the label i7 than for the i5 because "i7 > i5" numerically. lol.

I multitask like crazy with my 2500K and still manage to game at same time. Magic.

The 3570K will perform exactly the same as a 3770K, either stock or overclocked.

The GTX670 is probably a touch stronger than the 7950 and usually all you need for great gaming on a single monitor.
I don't think the price premium for a GTX680 is worth it if you have budget constraints. Why not compromise and buy a factory overclocked GTX670.
Perhaps the evga GTX670 FTW which costs no more:

I have yet to see any benchmarks that show 4GB being any better than 2GB for the 670 (because of the design of the card)

This may change in the future, as of now tho it won't make a difference but the hiked up price tag for 2GB of vram doesn't justify it for me and others.

I wouldnt say that the GXT 670 is better than the 7950, the 7950 overlocks with scaling greater than the GTX 670 OC. A plus is the power draw however nod to the 670.
