When I log in to my router's configuration, it shows this wireless address as having 85%+ signal, yet my icon on my tray shows around 50-60%. Is this normal/am I missing something to get a rather large boost in signal that I "should be getting" according to my router? (Not trying to boost the signal itself, but just wondering if there is a reason that my router shows a much better signal than I'm getting).

Wireless signal strengths are only relative strengths; they are not an absolute power measurement. They are only there to guide you in positioning the device or antenna for best signal.

For example, you could have two laptops sitting side by side connected to the same router, and they will likely show different signal strengths.

I see, I ended up Ditching the wireless anyway. Kinda figured wireless would be a little more along the way since the time it was invented but it just doesn't mix with any sort of walls it seems. I'm barely far away at all but walls absolutely kill it. Going to end up just drilling some holes and running up a wire.

Yes, I only use wireless for my laptop. For everything else I hard-wired my home.
