I just got my FX 8350 this morning, installed without a hitch. I booted and noticed clock was set by default to 3.8ghz so I rebooted and up the multiplier just to the standard 4.0ghz. BSOD the second I go to the Windows screen, I went back to bios and downed my RAM from 1600mhz to 1333mhz, still BSOD. I then went back to the 3.8ghz and I am fine. I'm thinking my motherboard won't support this cpu higher than 3.8ghz.. I'm realllllly hoping that isn't the case because I was told that as long as its AM3+ (Which my board is) Than I'm good. I have seen people running these cpus in older boards than mine.. what is the problem here? My RAM?

My Specs:

FX 8350
Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P 760G
8gb dual channel HyperX Blue @1600mhz
Gigabyte AMD Radeon 7850 2gb ddr5
ThermalTake TR2 600w

More about : 8350 run 8ghz

Did you update the bios before fitting the new chip?

That board doesn't support 125W cpus, your overworking the voltage regulators, the fact that its even working is more that some get.

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-p...

Note: none of those are 125 Watts.

physically it can handle it in the socket and bios, but the VRM isn't designed to push that much power. Since its working you can use it as is till you can afford/get a better motherboard.

Ok... Yeah I'll have to order a new mobo it looks like. Well any recommendations for something affordable?

Also remember to turn off the turbo boost when overclocking.

Good suggestion but since you have a 7850, you don't need that biostar. how much can you spen on a MOBO?

lol, too tired atm, should have look at the first post again where he said the 7850.

look for a good 970 or 990 motherboard, they have sata 6gb and usb 3 ports over any older board.

I just bought a GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard. I've always loved my Gigabyte boards no problems yet, I took the advice and grabbed a 970, so thanks guys.

no. that board will damage itself (VRM) before it can hit the peak current your cpu can take (145 amps). your cpu is safe
