Should Tom fire Omid?

This is my opinion. I know you will hate it because it describes you.

I liked Omid's 'Intel's 64 bit Doomsday Scenario' editorial. I like all of his editorials.
Omid's editorials demean the mind of the overzealous AMD (or Intel) supporter.
The humour in his dry witticismic comments is amplified by the simplistic negative comments made by illiberal minded persons.

It is the best. THG is one of the main websites published in newspapers, magazines and books for being one of the most reputable computer hardware review sites on the Internet. They are compared to Internet publishers like CNET. I would have never heard of THG if the site wasn't reviewed on ZDnet.

I think Tom has him about the place precisely for this reason, the debate his causes. Omid doesn't subscribe to the normal meandering journalistic viewpoint. He writes what he feels, and couldn't care less who takes offence. I like that, he brightens up what can be at times a very boring and monotonous subject. I think the whole idea of Omid's column is to stir this sort of reaction.

Edit. Having now read the utter cobblers that is your poll, I retract the statement that previously sat in this space. Just because I happen to like Omid's articles and vote not to fire him, I'm a fanboy? Well, that's a nice balanced point of view. Agree with you and everythings fine and dandy. Disagree and I'm a fanboy who sides with a "Fascist Bastard" (your words not mine)? You're having a laugh.

If he writes idiotic stuff to only create debates, then he's not the only or the best option for this. IMO, SoDNighthawk would do great if he were THG editor. He could create even more debate and make THG look funny. SoDNighthawk will make lot of people talk about him and THG.

If he just wants to speak whatever he wants to speak, then why he doesn't use forums? He is clearly abusing his editorial power. Anybody who abuses power is not good for his job.

Isn't it true that big portion of Omid supporters are Intel fanboy? I also don't like neutral people who doesn't take sides just because they're afraid of being labeled as fanboy. IMO, neutrality doesn't mean taking no sides. To me, neutrality is taking sides based on honest opinion and not taking sides when things are equal.

BTW, I haven't called Omid fascist bastard. I told, if he bans me for posting this poll, then it'll prove that Omid is a fascist bastard.

I have nothing personal against Omid or people who support him.

i support AMD all the way and i don't find what Omid writes to be biast. its a different flavor. you can't always have every thing be perfect.

much like what celebs do these days to get attention, not always right, but it works too. having most of Omids supporters being intel fans shouldn't change anything.

There's nothing about bias/unbias or flavor of Omid's writing. He's writing total BS. He is abusing his editorial power. He lives in his own delusional world like SoDNighthawk. The difference between two is, Omid is THG editor and can use space of THG for his BS

Well, personally speaking, I'd much rather hang out in here enjoying a damn good laugh with people who don't flame you for having a different opinion to them than spend time with uptight, narrowminded sadites who's main goal in life to is jerk off over the schematics of the latest chipset or CPU from AMD or Intel. I mean seriously, there's more to life than drooling over a friggin' processor or graphics card. Don't get me wrong, I like to have new equipment, but it doesn't rule my life unlike most of the people who reside in those forums. What sets me aside from those people is the fact that I actually have a life.

I mean, what on earth do you seriously hope to achieve by all the debate over CPU's? Is it going to actually change anything? Are Intel going to bow down to the desires of THGC(CPU Forum). AMD drop everything? I don't think so. Yet everyone gets so worked up over something they have absolutely no control over. At least when there's a political discussion in here and voices raise, it's about something that actually is important, and has a bearing on our lives. That new Athlon 64 really is going to have a life-altering affect huh?

At least down here, Other residents have actually experienced life and are all the richer for it. It's why we enjoy a laugh and a joke. I've seen too much shite in this world to get worked up over a goddamn component in a computer. There's more intelligence in here than there is in the CPU forum, by a long stretch, believe me. And the people don't stab you in the back for the sake of a discussion over a few MHz.

For someone who thinks the CPU forum is better than the Other, I ask this. Why post in here? You've bitched about this place countless times before, yet still you come? If the CPU forum really is that much of a better place, then why not stay there? Then everyone's a winner.

Everyone in here knows where Wingding is coming from. If people take offence, then they obviously don't have a sense of humour. Outside of the Other, Wingy helps people in the Other components and PSU forums. Wingding is also one of the most articulate and intelligent people I've ever conversed with. If people can't see that Wingy's posts are humour, then they are truly lost souls.

That's way off the mark. Joking around and making cracks about people who make them back is no different than someone launching a vitriolic and deeply personal attack against someone who's only crime was to post what their opinion was? How do you come to that conclusion? Again, if you don't like it, then don't come in here. You're not going to change anyone by this stance, if anything, everyone will continue just as they are. Also, I don't recall seeing any do's and don't regarding what you can and can't post in the Other, and until those guidelines are in place, I'll carry on thank you very much. I didn't make any personal attack. I'm trying to get him fired in democratic way. Not only me, currently 67% (out of 91 votes) people want him to be fired. I'm trying to more and more voter and opinion in that poll. This is why I'm carrying the link in my sig. I defended my opinion with logical points. Where's can you see flaming?
