video capture with Geforce?

Hi everyone,

I got the asus V6800 deluxe and I'm currently using the detonator 23.13 XP with the WDM drivers installed. I have a camcorder hooked up to the video input slot by a RCA wire.

The question is, what program do I use to capture the video feed? I tried to use Adobe Primiere's import feature, but it didn't work for some reason.

Any help would be appreciated.

Premier does not support WDM drivers. It uses property drivers for selected more professional cards or generic Fire Wire cards.

Ulead Media Studio

All are good programs and there are trial versions.

Are you saying that no recording software came with the card???

Try Virtual Dub or Nandub (same basic thing). It is available at <A HREF="http://www.doom9.org" target="_new">http://www.doom9.org</A> under download/avi editing tools/full listing/Virtual Dub or Nandub.

My asus driver came with asus live, but I don't know if it will work with the nvidia driver. Thanks for reminding me though, I'm going to try it out now.

I tried to use the Ulead Media Studio, and it worked the first time I loaded the program. But the second time I tried to capture video, nothing comes up. Do you think there is something wrong with my WDM drivers? or I didn't set something up properly?

By the way, I have my camera connected via a RCA-S-video connector (S video into the card), could this be a problem?

I don't think it's the camera connected to the computer.
Probably drivers, Direct X or somthing like this.

Explain this like im retarded ( cuz i sorta am).

"worked fine the first time, but the second time..." Do you mean you captured video fine one time, the next time you couldnt capture. OR do you mean you loaded the program fine and just couldnt capture?
The s-video connection is probably fine. S-video just splits the images in RGB values and an extra channel for sound ( or something like that). ANyway, s-video is supposed to be a really good means of transfer.
I would go to the website for the video card and ask them. Or even contact tech support and ask. Most cards come with a program to capture with.
Most programs for capturing video are buggy and a pain in the a**. But once configured correctly, they can be sweet. My guess is you need to do some tweaking in the capture program itself. Go online and look for documentation on the capture program and see what it takes to configure it for capture.
If that doesnt work, go to the forums for the capture program and start asking around.

The Nvidia cards have a generic capture driver that work with several capture/edit programs that support Microsoft direct Show standard.
Normaly if the drivers/directX and such are installd corect then you can use each one of this programs to capture with.

I capture in Win 2k, WDM nVIDIA 1.08, program ATV2000. It includes capturer WDM Cap. Program is free. Also i'd recommend IUVCR (but it's shareware, free for 30 days, 20 min limit after evaluation period) www.iulab.com
