My motherboard is a socket AM3, Asus, M4A89GTD PRO. I currently use a 1055T Phenom II X6. Although FX-8150 is a socket AM3+ processor, it can be used on my motherboard after a BIOS update. Is it worth it?

I must say, the FX 8150 is a margin faster than the 1055T, however, it depends on what you do in the future. I you're struggling to run modern games, plan to run hardcore games or heavy 3D design programmes, I'd get it.
But if you are happy with the way it performs and are just using it for home computing and less hardcore games (Minecraft for example) I'd stick with the Phenom a little longer. Maybe wait for the new Steamroller chips from AMD?
