Hello everyone, I need advice on what video card/s to get the best balance of performance and price. I want it to be able to play games on ultra now and still play games on high 2-4 years from now. Here are my choices (I'm assuming you guys know the general pricing of these cards at the moment)

1 Nvidia gtx 590 -used, ebay
1 Amd radeon hd 6990 - used, ebay
1 Amd radeon hd 7970 - new or used
1 Nvidia gtx 680 - used, ebay
Crossfire 6970's - new
Crossfire 7870's - new

What would you buy?

How about a new 7950. This particular card has a great, has 3GB of VRAM to be able to pump up high graphic settings and play 1920x1080. Most people will say GTX 670. I'd get this 7950 because it's $309.99 after mail-in rebate

MSI 7950.

What do you think?

As far as used is concerned, you don't know if you have much warranty left on the card.

I looked at that card and it does seem to be able to play all current games at ultra, I was just worried about its performance a couple years down the line if I want to play games on high to ultra. What do you think about just getting one now, and in a year or so, (when they are cheaper) buying another to crossfire? How much of a performance boost would i see, and would it be big enough to justify a crossfire of 7950's over a crossfire of a 7870's?

And on a side note - would 400 or under be a good deal for a used amd 6990 or nvidia 590?

I think the better deal right now is the 7950. The price is great, it should not be ignored. The crossfire will beat a 6990 and 590.
